Dearest Sleepwalkers,

At last, here’s another new release in the series of the Insomnia Saga: The Origins Files, book 3.5, the third short story collection that connects to the historic story lines referred to in ORIGINS.

If you’d like to meet her, grab your own ebook or paperback copy here!:

The Origins Files ebook edition is available for $1.99 on:

Amazon
Kobo
Smashwords
Barnes&Noble
GooglePlay

and can be found in paperback edition for $8.99 on:

Amazon

• The Origins Files (Insomnia Saga #3.5)

The Origins Files contains a short story and a novella, told from the perspectives of Alain Somnus—the first Summoner of Light to ever rise—, Orion Fleming—the founder of the Night Angel Cult—, Frank Miller—a young man struggling to find his place in the world, no matter how much it has changed with the arrival of the Prowlers of Night—, and Eleanora Smith—who moves through the night like a thief and dreams of vengeance.

“The Night Angels will have their revenge.
And you will meet the destiny you deserve, Summoner of Light.”

In File #1 Orion Fleming remembers when he first met Nilisa Solovey, a wealthy girl who never should have had eyes for a poor boy like him, and yet fell in love with. Now the mother of his child, she has offered herself to be the Queen’s human host… but is Orion prepared to sacrifice the love of his life—or will desperation and heartache cause him to reach out to the world’s strongest Summoner, Alain Somnus… and betray the Night Angels?

The story of love and betrayal, secrets and guilt continues in File #2 as Alain finds out that Nilisa has given her body to the Queen of the Prowlers of Night, and he decides to step in as the savior the people believe him to be—though not without the help of Frank and his other friends, while having to deal with a young woman called El who knows more than she should.
His secret is on the verge of being exposed.
And the greatest battle he has ever fought is awaiting him, long-limbed and dark as night… and disguised as a girl of shadows.

The writing experience of each of these Insomnia Saga short story collections is a special thing for me. It’s actually quite different from the tales I usually write, as the history of this series isn’t a happy one, and so it forces me to explore darker themes and settle for sad endings, rather than the (bitter)sweet ones I tend to choose — simply because that makes me feel good.

Just as was the case with the previous two collections, The Origins Files was once again interesting to write, and maybe even a little challenging, because it was so sinister and sorrowful. Still, I really enjoyed myself, and in some cases I believe it’s fine to step out of your comfort zone for a bit.

The cast of this series is ever growing, and I hope you all feel just as connected to the new voices of Orion and El as I do. Please enjoy reading this latest installment to the series ❤️

If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment down below, on social media, through email; I’ll get back to you ASAP 🙂 Also, I’d appreciate it if you’d consider adding the book to your Goodreads!

HALLOWEEN 2021: when i used to dream nightmares | part two

HALLOWEEN 2021: when i used to dream nightmares | part two

I held my breath, terrified to make a sound.

I did not know how I got here: lying on my stomach on the floor, under a bed which I first thought was my own… but this was not my room.

Something moved in the shadows and I flinched, but then grew perfectly still as I caught the shimmer of eyes watching me, wide and scared.

Other children.

I was not alone.

Several of us were hiding here, under the bed and with nowhere else to go.

My heart pounding, I dipped my head a little lower and peeked out from my hiding place, finding a room with a gray carpet, gray desks placed alongside the gray walls, a gray chair upon which sat… a man, wearing a gray suit, yet not a gray top hat — no, that one was black, a hue so utterly dark that it would never be able to catch a ray of light.

The man was tall. Unusually thin. He reminded me of a scarecrow.

Of a skeleton.

He was motionless, and I released a shuddering breath, and—

Whirling around, he turned on his chair.

The man had no face.

It was white, simply white, an empty sheet, pale flesh without features, and yet…

And yet, I knew he could see me.

Greetings scaredy-cats and and horror-fanatics, and welcome to the second part of my 2021 Halloween blog post series, “When I Used to Dream Nightmares”! 🎃

As I told you all in the previous post, when I was 5 or 6 years old, I went through a phase in which I was often terrorized by pretty horrific nightmares, and the one above is one of the few which I still vividly remember.

To be honest, even at 29, I still think this one is pretty disturbing.

While my nightmare of the Skeleton Dragon was a recurring dream that plagued me about two or three times, this was — thankfully — a standalone, so the Faceless Man only visited me once. The nightmare was just as I described it above, yet somehow, I had all this knowledge while I was in the dream, and I knew this creepy guy stole children from their parents and then just kept them in that room. Which makes hiding from him seem like a pointless thing, I guess, but that’s just the way dreams work, right? They often don’t make sense, and neither do your actions. I just figure that the other children and I simply did not want the Faceless Man to see us.

But, what did he want from us? Would he eat us? Lock us up somewhere?

I never got an answer to that, since the dream stopped the moment his face turned toward me, and luckily I woke up in my own bed, in my own room, with no terrifying intruders present.

Yet that is exactly what has been intriguing me as I got older: how often does it happen that a nightmare stops at the exact moment that something truly creepy would happen? To me, that is always the case.

Which is why today, I’d like to talk a little about the power of suggestion — or rather, the horror of it.

Now then, let’s be honest: what is often worse? The idea of something terrible happening, or actually going through it?

In my experience it is the first.

Like back at high school, when I had to give a presentation before my teacher and classmates, I used to be so terribly nervous it made me feel sick. Yet when I was actually standing there, doing it, I often forgot all about my nerves and it turned out not to be that bad.

The same goes for watching a horror movie (what?)! Often the first half is the scariest for me, when inexplicable things happen — when objects move, but you don’t see what has touched it. When there are sounds and moans at night, but you never see what is making them. When the camera shows you that something is watching the protagonists, but you never get to see what it is.

Then, usually, during the climax of the movie you get to see this horrific monster or dreadful ghost that usually, for me, breaks the spell and takes away all fear, because somehow, actually seeing the devil isn’t as scary as not seeing it while knowing it is there.

Personally, I always like to add this to my own stories — I don’t write ghost tales (maybe I will one day, though!) so I can’t get away with keeping the demon invisible, but I do like to build up the tension in a scene first. Like I did in the prologue of INSOMNIA, when Jodi is playing with her dog and he disappears into the field of the farm, out of her sight. She can hear he gets hurt, but doesn’t know what is going on. Once she finds her dog, he turns out to be wounded and bleeding.

And then the sun sets, a shadow falls over her, and she knows, she senses something is behind her.

For me, the idea of a situation like this simply fills me with dread; not being able to see what is there, yet knowing that something is lurking behind you, wanting to hurt you.

Writing the part of that scene that comes after, of Jodi being attacked by the Nightprowler, was still pretty terrifying for me to write — but I do think one should never underestimate the power of suggestion, and how much scarier it is than when a character faces off with the actual monster.

But, that is just my opinion! What do you think? Is the mere suggestion of something scarier, or do you  dread the part that comes after, the actual showdown with whatever devil is haunting the story? I’m really interested to know how others think about this, so please leave me a comment down below! Who knows, I might learn something from it as a storyteller 😉

This concludes part two — which is also the final one! Thanks so much for reading everyone; please feel free to reach out to me 😀

Happy Halloween everyone.

May your dreams be filled with lovely nightmares…

(Oh, and… don’t forget to listen closely for the sounds in your house at midnight. Who knows what you might hear — yet will never find…?)

Presenting: Insomnia Saga COVER REVEALS

Presenting: Insomnia Saga COVER REVEALS

Dearest Sleepwalkers,

It is time for an exciting Insomnia Saga update! Book 3, ORIGINS, released at the end of May, which means we’re already over halfway through the series.

However, there are still three more books left, which are: The Origins Files, a short story collection that picks up where The Nocturne Files has left off; SOMNUS, the grand finale to Jodi’s and Kay’s story as they face off with Annabelle and Damian for the very last time; and last but not least, The Somnus Files, another short story collection that will be the continuation of the storyline of The Origins Files and, of course, the ending…

I’ve already seen the covers for these three books a few months ago, but now the time to reveal them to you has finally come…

Here they are:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I am SO excited about these — especially the cover for SOMNUS.

ISN’T IT TERRIFYING??

Every time I see it, I actually flinch. I swear. It’s so eerie. And yet, in a way, absolutely beautiful. I’m so proud that this cover has been made for ME, for MY BOOK, for the very finale of the Insomnia Saga, a series I’ve been working on since 2017, first in Dutch, then in English… It’s just so special, and this cover is exactly what I want to tell with the finale ♥️

The Origins Files will release in November 2021

SOMNUS and The Somnus Files will release in 2022

As always, I will announce the exact release dates as soon as I have more info 😀

So, what do you guys think of these covers? Does SOMNUS scare yet lure you in as much as it does me?!?! Let me know in the comments!

Do you have any questions? Just have something to say? Please feel free to reach out to me here on my blog — just leave a comment down below —, on social media, or through email ( contact@lynnrobin.com ); I always love hearing from my readers! 🙂

JUNE 2021 Writing Update #1: Writing Days of Infinite Sunshine

JUNE 2021 Writing Update #1: Writing Days of Infinite Sunshine

Peace is the way to live. Violence is only a way to survive.

— quote from The Waves of Him (The Sea of Her #2)

June is here, marking the start of summer — and it really, truly does.

The weather has been amazing here in the Netherlands for the past few days, filled with sunshine and infinite blue skies. No more long sleeves, no more endless layers of clothes. We’re going summer style.

And, in case you didn’t know, I happen to LOVE summer. It’s by far my favorite season, simply because everything feels more alive. The vibrant colors of nature give me such inspiration for my stories, and the warm temperature fills me with energy; I swear it makes me write even faster than usual. (Really. It does.)

Except during a heatwave, maybe. However, on the other hand, I’ve also been binge-writing during several of them over the past few years 😉

So, now over to the actual “writing” in this Writing Update! The last couple of weeks have been quite busy for me, and even more bookish action is coming my — and your — way this month.

A new book has been finished.
Others have been edited.
Another one is being born.
And some are about to spread their wings and fly off into the wide world of the reading community…

You ready?

• Diving into the tragic past of the Insomnia Saga

If you’ve been following me on social media lately, you’ve probably already seen this — however, I’d still like to mention that a couple of weeks ago I finished working on the manuscript of The Origins Files. It is a short story collection that is a sequel to The Nocturne Files (Insomnia Saga 2.5), yet is also deeply connected to ORIGINS (Insomnia Saga 3).

As ORIGINS has only released in ebook and paperback last week, I cannot say too much, except that several new subjects on the dark past of Alain Somnus and the Night Angel Cult have been touched upon in the book, and I’ve turned those side-storylines in a detailed short story and novella that make up The Origins Files.

It was really fun and interesting to work on this, but also rather sad at some points, as I dug deeper in Orion’s and Nilisa’s past and relationship… and if you’ve read The Nocturne Files, you can probably guess it’s all pretty tragic, to say the least. I don’t think I’ve ever written such a complicated, messy love story before!

I’ve already picked a release date for the book, so I’ll let you guys know ASAP 🙂

• The Sea of Her: editing, publication & writing update

Last month I revealed my brand-new Paranormal Romance series, entitled The Sea of Her, and announced the release for book 1 (June 22nd) and book 2 (August 24th)… which means the series will start releasing THIS MONTH!!

In case you haven’t noticed yet, I’m totally excited.

😀

Yes. So. Currently the preparations are in full swing. I finished editing the first book last week and am currently working my way through the final revisions on book 2, The Waves of Him. Usually I am not a huge fan of revisions, but I’m actually having lots of fun with these!

Meanwhile, I am already working on book 3 in the series, which I’ll probably officially announce later this summer. The rough overall plot outline for the entire book is done, and earlier this week I even finished the detailed plot outline for the first half of the novel. I’ve begun writing the first couple of chapters yesterday, and will work some more on it as I wrap up the revisions on book 2 this week 🙂

And next week, and probably the week after, me and my sis/awesome book designer will join forces again to turn the manuscripts into actual books! I can’t wait to see the ebook editions — and I’m even more excited for the paperbacks. What will they look like? What kind of interior design will they get? Even I don’t know yet! (THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME.)

So, that’ll be June — and after all that work is done, I’m going to slow down for a couple of months as I’ll be taking my annual summer break~ I am pretty sure there will still be a lot of writing going on, and of course, I’ll keep up my presence on social media and will stay in touch with my ARC team and other readers (uhm, when exactly will this become a holiday??), but… whenever I feel like taking a day or several days off to just read or play a video game or do whatever, I simply can without having to feel guilty 😉 (We all know THAT feeling, right?)

Also, a quick Covid-update; the vaccinations here in the Netherlands are finally progressing a lot faster, and I think I might be able to get mine this month. I just hope it’ll be after I’m done with all my work, because everyone seems to end up feeling terribly tired after getting their shot. We’ll see. Well, now that I think about it, it doesn’t really matter that much. I’ll make it work anyway. After all, your health is way more important than deadlines, right?

This is it for now! This’ll be my last blog post for the next few weeks, as I’m going to be really busy, but of course I’ll still be around on social media <3

I hope you guys are all doing well and are in good health! Please feel free to leave a message here down below; I always love reading them 🙂

(Also, I went for a long walk yesterday, and if you’d like to see some pretty pictures of trees and flowers and even more trees, head on over to my Instagram!)

• ORIGINS (Insomnia Saga 3)

Our world is changing.
It is already turning into a darker place. And darker still.

The first step of the ritual has been completed.
Only two remain. And time is slipping.

It’s only been a day since Kay sacrificed his all in order to save the world; only a day since Jodi rose to fight her greatest enemy once more; only a day since Aiden’s betrayal; only a day since Annabelle and Damian achieved their first step in the ritual of the Infinite Night.

Realizing they need to take risks to keep the Infinite Night from falling, no matter the cost, Jodi, Kay and their friends have rallied the army of Insomnia to destroy the remaining two Stone Circles and plan to travel to the Circle in Miller themselves—but the entire world believes the Sleepwalkers are the enemy and refuse their help.

While everything is already working against them, Damian ups the stakes when he invites two of his companions to assist him with the remaining steps needed to complete the ritual, awaiting Annabelle’s recovery from Jodi’s unprecedented attack.

Jodi, however, has opened a connection between her and the Nightprowler.
And she can sense Annabelle already growing in strength.

Upon black shadows, the Night arrives, claiming the streets of Somnus and Reid, and possibilities start to look bleak until an unexpected invitation from an Insomnia soldier finds Jodi and Kay: they are not alone—an entire army is waiting to fight along with them in this war.

As Kay struggles with his brother’s betrayal, Jodi with her growing connection to Annabelle, and both of them with their unspoken feelings for one another, they let the mysterious invitation lead them to the tropical city of Maina, where darkness lurks in the rainforest… and perhaps even in broad daylight.

Jodi and Kay soon realize they are more than mere soldiers in this war against the Night—they are leaders; they are the voices that need to be heard.

But is either of them strong enough to keep the promises they have made to the world—and each other?

Originally (see what I did there?), ORIGINS had been planned to release in February this year, but because of other book releases, I had no other choice but to postpone it to May — I hope, however, that you will find it has been worth the wait 🙂 ORIGINS was an exciting project to work on, and I’m even more excited to see it all polished and finished like this. Please enjoy the continuation of Jodi’s and Kay’s story ❤️

MAY 2021 Writing Update: Quiet Times

MAY 2021 Writing Update: Quiet Times

Okay, so it’s been a while since my final Writing Update — exactly a month, which wasn’t the plan, as I always try to keep this blog alive with regular updates… but you know, sometimes you have to be honest with yourself and realize that, some moments, you just don’t have anything super interesting to share.

In all honesty, I’m going through a more “quiet” phase lately, in which I am working hard behind the scenes and everything just flows nicely. Which is cool, but leaves me wondering what to tell you guys.

However, I’ve just decided to give you all a quick run-down of my current projects 🙂 Let’s go!

At the end of April and the start of May, I worked together with my book designer (who happens to be my awesome sister, for those of you who didn’t know that yet!) to turn ORIGINS (Insomnia Saga 3) into an actual book! We made the ebook, designed the paperback, made the book trailers, and added some updates to my website to keep everything… well, up to date.

I’m super excited about how ORIGINS has turned out, especially the paperback edition, as it’s filled with lots of fun features such as in-story newspaper articles, blog posts and advertisements, that all contribute to the world-building. (Of course, these are also included with the ebook edition, but since there’s only so much design you can add to an ebook, it’s a bit less fancy than the paperback, naturally.) Feeling proud of this latest installment to the Insomnia Saga, and I hope you guys will all enjoy the continuation of Jodi’s and Kay’s journey ❤️

ORIGINS releases next week on May 25th in ebook and paperback!

For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working on writing The Origins Files (Insomnia Saga 3.5), the third short story collection in the series. Like The Nocturne Files, it consists of a short story and a novella, that follow up the stories featured in the earlier mentioned Nocturne Files.

It’s really fun to work on, as I dive deeper into Alain Somnus’s character — while his best friend, Frankie, also gets some special screen time, as well as Orion (an important key character as he’s the co-founder of the Night Angel Cult together with Nilisa Solovey)… and, I’m even introducing a brand new character! I’ll reveal more as soon as ORIGINS is out 😉

And, of course, last week I finally revealed my brand new Paranormal Romance series, entitled The Sea of Her. All information can be found here.

As book 1 and 2 are already finished (and currently being edited by my Editing Ninjas and myself!), I’m going to work on book 3 as soon as I’ve finished writing The Origins Files. I’m already looking forward to it, and I’ll keep you all posted on the developments ❤️❤️ It’s so nice to finally be able to talk about this series, now that I can share the titles, covers, and storyline. Makes it easier too, lol~

This is it, for now. Just a quick update. As I stated earlier, everything is simply going smoothly, calmly… quietly. Not much to report, except that all is going well 😀 That’s pretty nice too, right?

How are you all doing? Is life quiet, or is it busy?

Please feel free to leave a comment down below, and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!

MARCH 2021 Writing Update #2: A Month of Endings and New Beginnings

MARCH 2021 Writing Update #2: A Month of Endings and New Beginnings

Hey there Monster Kissers and Sleepwalkers ♥️

It’s been a couple of weeks since my last writing update, but to be honest, it feels like months — probably because I’ve been doing a lot of work… that will result in several new book releases 😉

So, what have I been up to?

• the release of KISSING PASSION

I know most of you already know this, but I like to touch on KISSION PASSION‘s release of last week anyway, because it is different from other book releases; after all, KISSING PASSION is the eighth and final book in the Kissing Monsters series, marking an end to my latest writing journey.

It still feels a bit unreal, to be honest! I’d actually already said my goodbyes to Kiss, Zane, and the others back when I finished the manuscript in December, but now I feel like I’m doing it all over again thanks to the reviews and words of readers. I just want to thank you all for your amazing support for this series, and for  loving the ending!

That’s one of the scariest things when finishing a series; I always do my best to tie up all loose ends and write an ending that will leave you satisfied, but I only know for sure I’ve succeeded in that as soon as I hear back from the readers — meaning, it is a RELIEF you all seem to have enjoyed it.

I will forever do my best to keep this up with my future series 😀

• talking of future series…

In my previous writing update I was still working on the first book of my brand new series… and I am proud to say that I have finished the manuscript last week!

Suddenly my manic writing skills kicked in again (as they usually do when I’m working on the final chapters of a book; it’s weird, but it just happens) and I wrote nearly 100 pages in three days. Now that I look back on it, it actually passed me by in a blur — especially that last day, when I wrote nearly 10.000 words. My brain was absolute toast as soon as I’d written that final sentence of the epilogue, but it was so worth it. Pushing through the last chapters of a manuscript at top-speed always gives me quite the adrenaline boost 😉

I’ve read the entire manuscript on Monday and yesterday, to check whether the overall story line was running smoothly as well as the scenes, and I must say when I finished reading I was feeling rather pleased with my work… but now the nerves have kicked in, because I have sent the manuscript to my beta readers and it’s time to see what they think of it. It’s nerve wracking, I tell you.

However, in any case, I’m planning to launch this new series early summer, so expect some news and revelations during the coming months 😀

• quick Insomnia Saga update

I’ve also been editing the first half of ORIGINS, and the ebook edition of part 1 will release tomorrow! (I’ll publish a blog post on that, of course, so if you’re interested, stay tuned!)

Next week I’m going to dive into the other half, so that one and the complete edition of ORIGINS can finally be released on May 25th in both ebook and paperback ♥️ Jodi and Kay are back in book 3 of the Insomnia Saga, learning to become stronger and braver than ever in a world that’s quickly turning against them, with dark clouds of the Night looming on the horizon…

All right, those are the most important updates for now! I’m going to work on outlining book 2 of the new series, as well as doing some brainstorming sessions for the remaining Insomnia Saga books that still need to be written. As always, I’ll keep you all posted 🙂

MARCH 2021 Writing Update #1: Diving Deep into a New World

MARCH 2021 Writing Update #1: Diving Deep into a New World

“It is instinct,” Keanu suddenly says, and Leilani looks up slowly. He doesn’t meet her eye. “A life is still a life, an existence, no matter how dark it may be. Even a bad life can be hard to give up on. Because your heart is always insistent on beating on, your lungs on drawing breath. It is instinct,” he repeats, finally lifting his gaze, “to stay alive. And hope for something better.”

— quote from The Project That Shall Not Be Revealed… yet —

Yes. You’re reading this right. No. You’re not seeing things that aren’t there.

This is a quote from the first book of the brand new series I am now working on — it is real, it is there; a new book series is coming! 😀

If you haven’t figured it out yet, I am very HAPPY and very RELIEVED.

I’ll tell you some more in this update. Let’s dive in!

• The Project That Shall Not Be Revealed… yet

In February’s Writing Update I told you how I was still struggling with the concept for a new book series. I kept on changing my mind, I kept on starting over on the plot outline again and again. I couldn’t decide on anything and none of the angles I came up with felt like the “right one”.

A few days after that update, I actually decided to give up on the project, because it simply drove me insane… and I just had to be honest with myself and admit that now obviously wasn’t the time to work on this story. So, I turned to another project that had been on my mind since 2019 and decided to work on that instead.

To be honest, I felt a bit reluctant at first. Attempting and failing to write the other series had left me feeling a little bit insecure (I was seriously worried I had somehow lost my touch over the Christmas holidays, or something), but as soon as I sat down and began taking notes for my ideas, it all just began to flow.

I’ve been pretty quiet about it, though, because I was still scared I’d change my mind any moment and decide to quit and move on to yet another project. BUT! Luckily, that is not the case, and this new project is slowly stealing my heart as I’m getting to know my new characters…; they’re so fascinating, I just want to find out more about them!!

So, yes, this new project is the real thing, and I enjoy working on it so much~

However, at this point, I still can’t reveal too much — except that the main characters are called Leilani and Keanu (as you’ve probably noticed in the quote I shared above!)… and that it’ll be an ocean/sea themed series with a fantasy and — of course — highly romantic twist 😀

And that is all I’m going to say before I get too excited and spill too much~ (CONTROL YOURSELF, WRITER!)

[By the way, I have been getting new ideas for the series I had to give up on! I’m so glad, because it felt like such a shame to quit. Hopefully, in the near future, I’ll be able to write the story after all…)

• Editing ORIGINS part 1

The revisions on ORIGINS part 1 (to be released March 25th in eBook edition) are in full swing here, and I’m enjoying it so much!! Sometimes I tend to forget editing can actually be fun, instead of just tiring. I don’t know why, though.

However, it’s great to connect with Jodi and Kay again. Reading about them in book 3 gives me so many feels (their relationship is so complex, I’m both frustrated and in love with those two~) and really makes me want to write the fourth and final book. The plan is to at least start working on it this year. It’s going to be so intense… 😉

That is it for now, guys! I’m so glad to be back in my usual writing flow, and I’m really happy to be able to share that with you all in this first Writing Update of March 2021 ♥️ I’m really excited for the upcoming months, and I’ll keep you all posted on the new book series! I’m planning to reveal some more after April, when the final book in the Kissing Monsters series is released… Stay tuned!

JANUARY 2021 Writing Update #1: The Return of the Writer Girl

JANUARY 2021 Writing Update #1: The Return of the Writer Girl

Hi there Monster Kissers, and welcome to my very first Writing Update of 2021 ❤️

If you’re following me on social media, you’d probably noticed I was rather quiet on there during the last three weeks…

• Writer Girl became Gamer Girl

That’s because I actually, truly, took some time off.

In 2020 I’ve practically been writing non-stop, and even in December I had no means of slowing down. However, at the start of my holidays I treated myself to a new video game I’d been wanting to play for months (but simply didn’t allow myself to buy “because I was too busy”), and I got so absorbed in it that I simply stopped thinking about writing. YES. I even stopped taking notes. I just allowed myself to completely lose myself in the game’s story and world, and I am so glad I did that — that I’ve given myself that “gift”, so to speak 😀

(In case you’re wondering, the game I’m talking about is the amazing Final Fantasy VII Remake — I’ve been a huge fan of the franchise ever since the movie “Advent Children” came out when I was 13, and wow, I’ve fallen head over heels with the world and characters all over again. It’s just magical. If you’re into action RPG games with dizzying sword fights and an emotional and mind-bending storyline, I highly recommend it.)

(In case you’re wondering, no, I’m not being paid to advertise this game, lol)

Sorry, I went off-topic here: what I’m actually trying to say is that I have really enjoyed my time off, and that it has been so good for me. I’ve come up with all new kinds of ideas and concepts for book series I’m working on or want to write, simply by taking a break and doing something completely different 🙂 I’m feeling so well-rested, and only now realize how much I’ve needed to wind down and just let go of stuff.

• Back to work… slowly

I’ve been back in business since Monday, quick-editing the manuscripts of Kissing Monsters books 7 and 8… but I’m feeling a bit less fanatical than usual, meaning I’m allowing myself an hour or so at the end of each day to play my current video game obsession some more 😉 Normally I don’t do that, because I’m usually too disciplined to “indulge” myself, lol~ (I’m a real nutter, I guess.)

However, it’s actually important for me to start things up slowly again. Now that the final revisions of the Kissing Monsters books are drawing near, it means that I’m on the verge of actually wrapping up the project… which will give me time to take on a new one, next to working on the Insomnia Saga (I expect to finish writing this series this year also).

In December I excitedly told you guys about a new book I’d been working on, that started out as a stand-alone and then turned into a series. I’ve gotten lots of new ideas for this project, though at this point I’m not entirely sure yet that it will be the one I’ll be working on soon. As I said above, many things have changed in that brain of mine ever since I took time off, and right now my mind and inspiration are all over the place.

For now I’m writing down ideas for several series, hoping that it’ll help me figure out what new project I’d like to tackle 🙂

This is it for now, guys! I’m excited about all the books I will be writing this year, especially because at this point I’m not even sure which they’ll be yet (this is new for me, lol). As always, I’ll keep you posted!
