“Surround me with Light and give me strength; this shield is my protection and my weapon”

It’s finally here! The Insomnia Files: FILE #1 JODI COLLINS is a prequel to the Insomnia Saga, an action-packed Dark Fantasy Upper Young Adult series, set in a fictional modern world, where people can wield actual Light as a weapon which they use to fight the greatest enemy of mankind—demons, called the Nightprowlers.

JODI COLLINS is a prequel short story especially written for first-time Insomnia Saga readers, introducing the main character, Jodi Collins. This short story takes place 4 years prior to the first book in the series, INSOMNIA.

Best of all? It’s a FREE download!

“Don’t make a sound,” I whisper.

Peering through the shelves, I can’t take my eyes off the giant on the other side. It’s a creature with an oval-shaped head, a slender body, elongated arms, hands with pointy fingers, and long legs with which it takes big, silent steps.

Like a two-legged spider, hunting for its prey.

For first-time Insomnia Saga readers

A Nightprowler marked her and covered her in scars that will forever stigmatize her as an outcast:

A Sleepwalker.

A year after the attack, thirteen-year old Jodi Collins starts working for the Summoners to keep herself and her parents alive in this new, brutal life of discrimination and hate.

The Summoners are a worldwide army that have been fighting the Nightprowlers for centuries—and by working for them, Jodi will be forced to fight these creatures responsible for ruining her future.

On a dark, wintery night, Jodi is sent on a mission to find a young missing boy. The clock is ticking—if she’s too late, he will end up the same as her.

A toy store. A maze of dolls and monsters.

A world where light and darkness collide.

Jodi has to prove herself and overcome her greatest fear:

confronting the demons of the Night. And fight them.

[This short story takes place four years prior to the first book in the series, INSOMNIA.]

NOVEMBER 2019 Writing Update: Insomnia Saga, changes, new horizons

NOVEMBER 2019 Writing Update: Insomnia Saga, changes, new horizons

Dear Sleepwalkers,

For two years I’ve been writing these monthly updates — and to be honest, it feels rather strange to write my first one in English now 😉

However, nothing has changed really; life’s been busy, as always, and this month has been a particularly exciting one. So without further ado, let me tell you about all the things I’ve been up to in November!

• Insomnia Saga writing: NOCTURNE

NOCTURNE is the second book in the Insomnia Saga series. I started working on this project back in September, but in October I had to take a break from it to do some crazy (but awesome; it was so much fun!) editing on the first book, INSOMNIA.

This month, however, I could finally return to my manuscript. The book is divided into six parts, and I finished writing part 3 last week. Then, however, I had some other work to do again, so I’ve been forced to take a break once more. Working on NOCTURNE is pretty challenging — it’s not that the book is that hard to write (it flows nicely actually, and I’m absolutely loving the process), but I’ve got so many other writing-related things to do, that I simply don’t have the time to work on it full-time.

• From Dutch to English; updating the site

The reason why I had to stop writing last week, is that it was (finally!) time to update my site! I decided I wanted to debut internationally a full year ago — it was October 2018, for those who’d like to know 😉 — and it kind of exhilarated as well as terrified me that the time had come at last to start working toward this goal.

Anyway, since you’re reading this you are already here—still, I’d like to welcome you one more time 😀

In case you missed it and you’d like to read a bit more about me, my books, and upcoming releases, I wrote and shared a blog post last week to introduce myself! You can read it here.

• Upcoming releases: Insomnia Saga

With the site-update, I also announced the upcoming Insomnia Saga releases!

December this year I’ll be releasing a prequel to INSOMNIA called The Insomnia Files: FILE #1: JODI COLLINS, which is a short story about the series’ heroine, Jodi Collins. It’ll be available as a FREE eBook download on December 10th!

Early 2020, INSOMNIA — the first book of the Insomnia Saga — will be released. INSOMNIA will be available in both print edition and eBook February 11th 2020.

• FILE #1: JODI COLLINS eBook + teaser trailer COMING SOON

This week I’m still too busy to write, because my team and I are working hard on the short story’s release next month; yesterday we finished making the eBook, and today we’ll be working on the teaser trailer, which will be on YouTube in a couple of weeks! I can’t wait to share it with you guys 😀

Well, I think it’s time to wrap this up. I expect December to be a bit… well, calmer, I suppose? I’m  hoping that I’ll have some time to write on NOCTURNE. Actually, at the beginning of November, I even said at social media that it was my goal to finish writing the manuscript by the end of this month.

Guess I was a bit too enthusiastic there.

Right now, I’m not even sure whether I’ll be able to finish it before the end of this year, with the short story release, some editing I still have to do, AND the holidays! I’m so excited about Christmas! We’re going to decorate the house this Saturday, so consider me hyped! 😉

I love Christmas. I know I write freaky stories about pretty dark stuff, but I just love this time of the year — it’s so cozy and magical, isn’t it? Glistening things and tiny lights everywhere! What’s not to love?!

Are you looking forward to Christmas? And what do you like to read during this time of the year? Leave a message!

BE CREEPY. STAY FREAKY.

— Lynn
