The Magic of Going Off the Grid

The Magic of Going Off the Grid

• The Magic of Going Off the Grid •

Sometimes you just need a break.

Right?

Don’t get me wrong, I think the Internet is one of the best inventions ever made. Also, I enjoy social media and have mostly positive experiences with it. Then again, I like to share my words with the world. I like to share what I’m working on, daily.

But sometimes the endless chatter of other people, even when you can’t actually hear them, can be deafening. As you scroll through your feeds, you’re confronted with hundreds of opinions, so many different ways of thinking, so many eyes that perceive the world differently. And no matter how strongly you believe in your own opinions and perceptions, no matter that you’re absolutely certain about the road you’ve taken… all those voices still manage to find a way to creep into your mind.

And then the whispers begin. And soon those quiet voices turn to shouts and screams.

Before you know it, you start overthinking things way too much, you start to worry about other people’s thoughts, you start to imagine scenarios that haven’t even happened yet and probably never will… and then you feel tired. Burned out. And instead of seeking silence, which you actually long for, you return to those platforms again and again and soak up even more noise — only to fill your head with even louder shouts and screams.

Sounds familiar?

To me it certainly does.

I’ve had a crazy last couple of weeks. My summer holidays had started, but it didn’t really feel like it.

On my first holiday Monday I got my very first vaccination. The side-effects weren’t too bad. A sore arm for a couple of days, but mostly I just felt tired. I’d planned to, but didn’t write a single word, because I honestly couldn’t be bothered. Which was fine, right? Because it was the holidays.

Tell that to my brain: I just couldn’t fully rest, didn’t allow myself to, because I was still working on The Tide of Her, book 3 in The Sea of Her series. There was this constant voice in the back of my mind, nagging me to work on it, to just finish the manuscript…

So, I gave in to that voice in the second week of my holidays. And it felt great! I wrote chapter after chapter, everything was just flowing. And yet, at the start and at the end of every writing day, I felt utterly exhausted. First, I figured I was just tired from the creative process and needed a break.

Yet that wasn’t the case.

After a few days, I realized that besides writing, I was also furiously checking and updating my social media, while also constantly checking the number of downloads for The Sea of Her; the ebook edition has been available for free since the day of release, and it has been crazy. The book has already been downloaded far more times than I expected — which is awesome!

But, what happens in my mind, is this: I keep looking, daily, at the increasing downloads. Then, I start checking sites such as Amazon, Kobo, and Goodreads to see whether anyone has already read it and placed a review or left a rating. And even though The Sea of Her has already received several reviews, which have all blown my mind and I couldn’t be more grateful for, I start worrying about all those other people who have downloaded my book, are maybe reading it, and… Will they love it? Will they hate it?

That’s what was exhausting me. Not the writing. But really, worrying about how my writing could be perceived by others. Which is absolutely pointless, because it is out of my control, and every single book, every single author out there receives both good and bad responses. Because there are so many different people with different opinions and views, right?

Which is fine. That’s simply the way the world works.

Luckily, I realized this soon enough. I also realized that I am not writing for the people who possibly don’t like my books. I write for those who do love them and care as much about my characters as I do.

So, on Wednesday night I made a decision. I still had 5 chapters left to write for the manuscript, and I decided it was time to finish them all; to just sit down and finish the book. And to do so, without any distractions, without constantly reminding myself of all the different people and countless opinions out there, I had to go off the grid for a bit.

The next day, I immediately turned off my Wi-Fi, simply opened my manuscript, and began to write. It was just me and my story, just me and my characters, just me and the fictional world I have created.

It was awesome. It felt just like when I was still a teenager and simply wrote stories for myself (as I told about in my previous blog post). When I didn’t worry about other opinions. When I barely had any social media accounts. Long before I stepped into the world with my books, wanting to be seen, to be read.

Those five chapters practically wrote themselves, the words simply flowed, and I was so invested in my characters and world that I, just for a little while, forgot about everything else. When I finished the very final chapter, I swear my legs were actually shaking with the adrenaline of it (spoiler alert: the ending of The Sea of Her book 3 is INTENSE).

Writing like this again was such a wild ride, and I loved every minute of it. At the end of that day I went back online again, to celebrate finishing the book; that way I could still share the accomplishment with readers and fellow authors, but without all the unnecessary distractions.

Maybe this doesn’t sound all that special. I’m pretty sure that there are more people out there who go off the grid every once in a while, simply to catch their breath and distance themselves from all the noise. I actually used to do this more often, although this year, I actually can’t recall a single day that I haven’t shown up online.

Anyway, it was a valuable lesson for me, and I’ve decided to go off the grid during writing more often from now on, to treat myself to a bit of stillness, and to connect even deeper to the stories I want to tell — and then, yes, share with the world 😉

How about you? Are you constantly online, constantly wanting to share — or have you also experienced the magic of going off the grid every now and then? I’d love to hear about it, so please feel free to leave a comment down below ❤️

A Little Bit About Me: When I Finished my Very First Manuscript

A Little Bit About Me: When I Finished my Very First Manuscript

Actually, a usual writing update was due for this week.

But in all honesty, I just don’t feel like writing one. At all.

Which is why today I’d like to talk about something different. I want to talk about June, the sixth month of the year, the start of summer; to be exact, I want to talk about the month of June 14 years ago, when I was a fourteen year-old-girl, a teenager who spent her free hours after school and homework drawing, playing video games… and writing stories.

I want to share a cherished memory with you all.

Let’s just begin by saying I never really liked school. The classrooms felt stuffy to me, stifling even, and although I’ve always been eager to learn new things, there were several classes that just felt like a waste of time to me, as I had to pour so much of myself into studying things I just knew I would never have any use for in the future.

So, whenever I could, I loved to escape to other worlds. Those created by others and brought to life in books, movies, and video games — but especially those I could make myself.

I had always liked writing. As soon as I’d learned how to read and write as a little kid, I began making up short stories, about a wizard who had lost his book of spells and needed the help of several witches to find it so he could use magic again, or even one about a sunflower with razor-sharp teeth who bit everyone who came too close, until a brave girl with a watering can gave him some water and calmed him down (yeah, my mind has always been a weird place).

However, as I grew older, I realized I wanted to write an entire book. Not just short stories of several pages. No. I wanted to do what all those amazing authors did, whose books and series could hold me spellbound for days, weeks, months, with intricate storylines that grew with each book and made me yearn for the next release.

But it was hard. Again and again, I started writing a book, only for my ideas to dry up after only a few chapters. I kept losing touch with my characters, didn’t know where to take the story, and so I kept giving up on a project only to dive into a new one a little while later… to end up with yet another unfinished manuscript.

It didn’t really bother me, though. After all, I was only a kid, and writing was just about having fun.

Yet something changed 14 years ago, during a rainy holiday in May. I was at home, the skies were gray, and it kind of put me in a melancholy mood. I just sat behind my computer, listening to my favorite anime and video game soundtracks… and there it was; a new story idea, unfurling in my brain. Characters whose voices were suddenly so clear.

I just started writing.

The story opened on a rainy night, and during this first chapter the main character — a guy with some made-up fantasy name which I may or may not use again in the future, because I still quite like it — was fighting for his life against an enemy who wanted him dead for some reason. Honestly, I don’t even remember why anymore. And maybe I didn’t even know it back then, but it just didn’t matter.

What mattered was that even after the holiday ended and I went back to school, I kept on writing. What mattered was that May turned to June and no matter how busy I was with homework, I kept finding moments of spare time to add chapter after chapter to this story. What mattered was that I didn’t lose touch with my characters and grew to love them deeply in just a matter of weeks.

What mattered was that I, later that month, finished it.

Finished my very first manuscript.

It was only 75 pages. It was mixture of several video games and anime shows I loved; you could definitely tell what had influenced me back then, and so maybe it wasn’t all that original. In truth, it was a mess; the writing was flawed, the storyline lacking. Actually, it felt more like a sequel to a book that had never been written, instead of the start of something new.

But it did not matter. It still doesn’t.

Because by finishing my very first manuscript, I tasted something that I wanted to know more of. By finishing it, I began writing more and more and slowly honed my skills as a writer. I finished my second manuscript in August that same year, during my summer holidays. My third, the next year.

And I’m sure that if I’d read those manuscripts now, I would cringe in agony because, really, those stories weren’t very good.

But like I said — it doesn’t matter.

Finishing those manuscripts have all brought me to where I am today: a published author with two complete series, and two more that are currently getting published.

I am so happy to be where I am today.

Which is why, whenever June comes around and I smell the familiar scents of this month, whenever it is gray and I smell the rain falling on warm earth, I find myself remembering how I wrote and finished my very first manuscript back in 2007, and how much the story meant to me afterwards and actually still does, as the characters are always in the back of my mind.

One day, I hope to rewrite this story. To turn it into the book, the series it was always supposed to be, but which I wasn’t ready to write back then, because I barely knew what the hell I was doing.

One day, I hope to reunite with those characters again and have you, my readers, meet them.

But whatever happens, I will forever have this memory, and it will always remind me why I fell in love with writing and why I’ll keep doing it for the rest of my life.

To tell the tales that are born in my mind.

To give life to all those characters, all those voices I really want to be heard.

To share worlds with other people for them to escape to, if only for just a little while, just like other authors and creators have always done and still do for me.

Thank you for reading this, especially if you’ve made it all the way here! I just didn’t feel like summarizing my weeks — maybe I’m in a melancholy mood, or maybe I just wanted to try something new for this blog, but I simply wanted to share something about myself, something that felt a bit more personal.

Please feel free to let me know whether you enjoyed it; if so, I might write more blog posts like this, because I realize I have a lot more to tell 🙂 Also, if you’d like to know more about something, or would like me to get into more details, just leave a comment below!

Well. This is it for today ❤️

Warm wishes,

Lynn

• The Sea of Her (The Sea of Her #1)

Leilani has a gift:
the tears she cries all turn into pearls.

Three years ago, her well-kept secret got exposed — and upon finding out, the sinister Twins who rule the island have claimed her as their bride-to-be.

The Twins stole the Crown from the King of the Ocean many years ago, obtaining powers no man should possess, holding everyone prisoner and controlling dark sea creatures that haunt the streets at night.

Desperate for divine intervention, Leilani throws a message in a bottle into the sea, pleading for the King of the Ocean to awaken from his slumber and save her.

The next day, she finds an unconscious young man on the beach.

Keanu is a mystery, quiet and seemingly cold-hearted, stormy-eyed and bearing scars, harboring deep secrets of his own.

Could he be the King?
Or could he at least be Leilani’s savior?

The Sea of Her is a story that has been on my mind for a couple of years, and it feels so special to me to see it has become an actual book now. The moment I held the eBook and then the paperback edition in my hands, it was so unreal. Every time I start a new series it feels magical — and I hope it feels the same way to you, dear reader, and that you will enjoy the start of this new story and that you’ll be there with me for the adventure ❤️ At the moment, five books are planned for the entire series.

And don’t forget, book 2, The Waves of Him will release soon in eBook and paperback on August 24th!

JUNE 2021 Writing Update #1: Writing Days of Infinite Sunshine

JUNE 2021 Writing Update #1: Writing Days of Infinite Sunshine

Peace is the way to live. Violence is only a way to survive.

— quote from The Waves of Him (The Sea of Her #2)

June is here, marking the start of summer — and it really, truly does.

The weather has been amazing here in the Netherlands for the past few days, filled with sunshine and infinite blue skies. No more long sleeves, no more endless layers of clothes. We’re going summer style.

And, in case you didn’t know, I happen to LOVE summer. It’s by far my favorite season, simply because everything feels more alive. The vibrant colors of nature give me such inspiration for my stories, and the warm temperature fills me with energy; I swear it makes me write even faster than usual. (Really. It does.)

Except during a heatwave, maybe. However, on the other hand, I’ve also been binge-writing during several of them over the past few years 😉

So, now over to the actual “writing” in this Writing Update! The last couple of weeks have been quite busy for me, and even more bookish action is coming my — and your — way this month.

A new book has been finished.
Others have been edited.
Another one is being born.
And some are about to spread their wings and fly off into the wide world of the reading community…

You ready?

• Diving into the tragic past of the Insomnia Saga

If you’ve been following me on social media lately, you’ve probably already seen this — however, I’d still like to mention that a couple of weeks ago I finished working on the manuscript of The Origins Files. It is a short story collection that is a sequel to The Nocturne Files (Insomnia Saga 2.5), yet is also deeply connected to ORIGINS (Insomnia Saga 3).

As ORIGINS has only released in ebook and paperback last week, I cannot say too much, except that several new subjects on the dark past of Alain Somnus and the Night Angel Cult have been touched upon in the book, and I’ve turned those side-storylines in a detailed short story and novella that make up The Origins Files.

It was really fun and interesting to work on this, but also rather sad at some points, as I dug deeper in Orion’s and Nilisa’s past and relationship… and if you’ve read The Nocturne Files, you can probably guess it’s all pretty tragic, to say the least. I don’t think I’ve ever written such a complicated, messy love story before!

I’ve already picked a release date for the book, so I’ll let you guys know ASAP 🙂

• The Sea of Her: editing, publication & writing update

Last month I revealed my brand-new Paranormal Romance series, entitled The Sea of Her, and announced the release for book 1 (June 22nd) and book 2 (August 24th)… which means the series will start releasing THIS MONTH!!

In case you haven’t noticed yet, I’m totally excited.

😀

Yes. So. Currently the preparations are in full swing. I finished editing the first book last week and am currently working my way through the final revisions on book 2, The Waves of Him. Usually I am not a huge fan of revisions, but I’m actually having lots of fun with these!

Meanwhile, I am already working on book 3 in the series, which I’ll probably officially announce later this summer. The rough overall plot outline for the entire book is done, and earlier this week I even finished the detailed plot outline for the first half of the novel. I’ve begun writing the first couple of chapters yesterday, and will work some more on it as I wrap up the revisions on book 2 this week 🙂

And next week, and probably the week after, me and my sis/awesome book designer will join forces again to turn the manuscripts into actual books! I can’t wait to see the ebook editions — and I’m even more excited for the paperbacks. What will they look like? What kind of interior design will they get? Even I don’t know yet! (THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME.)

So, that’ll be June — and after all that work is done, I’m going to slow down for a couple of months as I’ll be taking my annual summer break~ I am pretty sure there will still be a lot of writing going on, and of course, I’ll keep up my presence on social media and will stay in touch with my ARC team and other readers (uhm, when exactly will this become a holiday??), but… whenever I feel like taking a day or several days off to just read or play a video game or do whatever, I simply can without having to feel guilty 😉 (We all know THAT feeling, right?)

Also, a quick Covid-update; the vaccinations here in the Netherlands are finally progressing a lot faster, and I think I might be able to get mine this month. I just hope it’ll be after I’m done with all my work, because everyone seems to end up feeling terribly tired after getting their shot. We’ll see. Well, now that I think about it, it doesn’t really matter that much. I’ll make it work anyway. After all, your health is way more important than deadlines, right?

This is it for now! This’ll be my last blog post for the next few weeks, as I’m going to be really busy, but of course I’ll still be around on social media <3

I hope you guys are all doing well and are in good health! Please feel free to leave a message here down below; I always love reading them 🙂

(Also, I went for a long walk yesterday, and if you’d like to see some pretty pictures of trees and flowers and even more trees, head on over to my Instagram!)

• ORIGINS (Insomnia Saga 3)

Our world is changing.
It is already turning into a darker place. And darker still.

The first step of the ritual has been completed.
Only two remain. And time is slipping.

It’s only been a day since Kay sacrificed his all in order to save the world; only a day since Jodi rose to fight her greatest enemy once more; only a day since Aiden’s betrayal; only a day since Annabelle and Damian achieved their first step in the ritual of the Infinite Night.

Realizing they need to take risks to keep the Infinite Night from falling, no matter the cost, Jodi, Kay and their friends have rallied the army of Insomnia to destroy the remaining two Stone Circles and plan to travel to the Circle in Miller themselves—but the entire world believes the Sleepwalkers are the enemy and refuse their help.

While everything is already working against them, Damian ups the stakes when he invites two of his companions to assist him with the remaining steps needed to complete the ritual, awaiting Annabelle’s recovery from Jodi’s unprecedented attack.

Jodi, however, has opened a connection between her and the Nightprowler.
And she can sense Annabelle already growing in strength.

Upon black shadows, the Night arrives, claiming the streets of Somnus and Reid, and possibilities start to look bleak until an unexpected invitation from an Insomnia soldier finds Jodi and Kay: they are not alone—an entire army is waiting to fight along with them in this war.

As Kay struggles with his brother’s betrayal, Jodi with her growing connection to Annabelle, and both of them with their unspoken feelings for one another, they let the mysterious invitation lead them to the tropical city of Maina, where darkness lurks in the rainforest… and perhaps even in broad daylight.

Jodi and Kay soon realize they are more than mere soldiers in this war against the Night—they are leaders; they are the voices that need to be heard.

But is either of them strong enough to keep the promises they have made to the world—and each other?

Originally (see what I did there?), ORIGINS had been planned to release in February this year, but because of other book releases, I had no other choice but to postpone it to May — I hope, however, that you will find it has been worth the wait 🙂 ORIGINS was an exciting project to work on, and I’m even more excited to see it all polished and finished like this. Please enjoy the continuation of Jodi’s and Kay’s story ❤️

MAY 2021 Writing Update: Quiet Times

MAY 2021 Writing Update: Quiet Times

Okay, so it’s been a while since my final Writing Update — exactly a month, which wasn’t the plan, as I always try to keep this blog alive with regular updates… but you know, sometimes you have to be honest with yourself and realize that, some moments, you just don’t have anything super interesting to share.

In all honesty, I’m going through a more “quiet” phase lately, in which I am working hard behind the scenes and everything just flows nicely. Which is cool, but leaves me wondering what to tell you guys.

However, I’ve just decided to give you all a quick run-down of my current projects 🙂 Let’s go!

At the end of April and the start of May, I worked together with my book designer (who happens to be my awesome sister, for those of you who didn’t know that yet!) to turn ORIGINS (Insomnia Saga 3) into an actual book! We made the ebook, designed the paperback, made the book trailers, and added some updates to my website to keep everything… well, up to date.

I’m super excited about how ORIGINS has turned out, especially the paperback edition, as it’s filled with lots of fun features such as in-story newspaper articles, blog posts and advertisements, that all contribute to the world-building. (Of course, these are also included with the ebook edition, but since there’s only so much design you can add to an ebook, it’s a bit less fancy than the paperback, naturally.) Feeling proud of this latest installment to the Insomnia Saga, and I hope you guys will all enjoy the continuation of Jodi’s and Kay’s journey ❤️

ORIGINS releases next week on May 25th in ebook and paperback!

For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working on writing The Origins Files (Insomnia Saga 3.5), the third short story collection in the series. Like The Nocturne Files, it consists of a short story and a novella, that follow up the stories featured in the earlier mentioned Nocturne Files.

It’s really fun to work on, as I dive deeper into Alain Somnus’s character — while his best friend, Frankie, also gets some special screen time, as well as Orion (an important key character as he’s the co-founder of the Night Angel Cult together with Nilisa Solovey)… and, I’m even introducing a brand new character! I’ll reveal more as soon as ORIGINS is out 😉

And, of course, last week I finally revealed my brand new Paranormal Romance series, entitled The Sea of Her. All information can be found here.

As book 1 and 2 are already finished (and currently being edited by my Editing Ninjas and myself!), I’m going to work on book 3 as soon as I’ve finished writing The Origins Files. I’m already looking forward to it, and I’ll keep you all posted on the developments ❤️❤️ It’s so nice to finally be able to talk about this series, now that I can share the titles, covers, and storyline. Makes it easier too, lol~

This is it, for now. Just a quick update. As I stated earlier, everything is simply going smoothly, calmly… quietly. Not much to report, except that all is going well 😀 That’s pretty nice too, right?

How are you all doing? Is life quiet, or is it busy?

Please feel free to leave a comment down below, and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!

NEW PARANORMAL ROMANCE BOOK SERIES ALERT: revealing & introducing The Sea of Her

NEW PARANORMAL ROMANCE BOOK SERIES ALERT: revealing & introducing The Sea of Her

After teasing you guys for a couple of months, telling you about the brand new Paranormal Romance series I was working on and promising I would reveal it “soon” and “in the near future”… the time has finally come for me to reveal to you

The Sea of Her

a brand new series that will be launched this summer! ❤️

The Sea of Her takes place in a tropical setting, and starts off on the fictional island of Hibiscus, which is ruled by the sinister Twins, who have powers no man should have. Leilani, a sweet yet mysterious girl, also known as the Weeper of Pearls, is desperate to escape the island and the Twins who demand of her to become their Bride — and when an enigmatic, stormy-eyed young man bearing scars called Keanu inexplicably washes ashore near her restaurant, she can’t help but wonder whether he could be the savior she’d been wishing for all these years…

• the main protagonists are all in their twenties

• includes fantasy elements and lots (LOTS) of romance

• for those who love stories set in a tropical/beach/ocean setting

So, that’s the story in a nutshell — but if you’d like to know more, check out the official blurb below:

The Sea of Her (The Sea of Her #1)

And since I’m already sharing and revealing… here’s the cover reveal of book 2 in the series, entitled The Waves of Him:

The Sea of Her (The Sea of Her #1) releases in ebook and paperback on June 22nd… and the ebook will be available as a FREE DOWNLOAD!
The Waves of Him (The Sea of Her #2) releases in ebook and paperback on August 24th

I am so excited about this, and I hope you are too and will look forward to the release! 😀 Also, I’d like to add how much I just love the cover designs for my new series; as usual, they’ve been created by my incredibly talented sister, and they’re just absolutely gorgeous. Mysterious and dreamy, I promise you they fit the story PERFECTLY.

For now I have 5 books planned for the entire series — if anything changes (meaning, if there will be more books), I’ll be sure to let you all know, of course 😉

Remember: the ebook edition of book 1 will be available as a free download on June 22nd!

What do you guys think? Are you going to read The Sea of Her? Please feel free to leave a comment below, and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask! Also, I’d appreciate it if you’d consider adding the book to your Goodreads!

• Kissing Monsters Collection #2 (Kissing Monsters 5—8)

“Nightmares have come to life. Angels are falling.
But love burns bright.”

While on the run from both angels and destiny, Kiss and Zane search for the Wandering Artist to help them make a ring to tame the monster in Kiss’s heart who wakes up every single night, always hungry for blood.

Skylar tries to track them down, determined to make Lady Scarlet—and any other monster—disappear from the world, unaware of the trail of nightmarish creatures she’s leaving behind while doing so.

It seems that Skylar’s kisses might not turn monsters into angels after all… but into Nightmares instead.

Enemies gather, the sky darkens, and unlikely friendships bloom.
Kiss and Zane will have to decide.
Between the world. Or their love.

Read the epic conclusion to the love story of Kiss and Zane in a world of monsters and angels in this collection of the final four books in the Kissing Monsters series…

So, for those wanting to complete their Kissing Monsters paperback collection, here it is — or for those of you who have been patiently waiting to read the final four books in one go, I hope you will all deeply enjoy this finale to the series 🙂

Once again, thanks so much everyone who went on this journey with me, who fell in love with me as Kiss and Zane fell in love with each other, and who opened their hearts for all the other characters who joined the cast, such as Skylar, August, Nyokah, Chula… and even Lock ❤️

APRIL 2021 Writing Update #1: a 4-year anniversary

APRIL 2021 Writing Update #1: a 4-year anniversary

Hello there, Monster Kissers and Sleepwalkers! ♥️

It’s been a little while since my last Writing Update, but this was mostly because I didn’t have a lot of interesting news to share with you yet… and I’ve also actually been waiting until it was the 14th of April to post my update, because this happens to be a rather special date for me 😉

Why, you ask? Well, read on and find out!

(See? I even use tiny cliffhangers in my blog posts these days. I’m on a roll.)

• a 4-year anniversary

Four years ago, on April 14th 2017, I posted my very first blog post on this very blog, I tweeted my very first tweet, and published my very first post on Facebook, in which I introduced myself to the world as a freshly new indie-author.

Well, actually, I only introduced myself to the Netherlands, since I still wrote my books in Dutch at the time, but anyway — that day was the start of my journey as a published author and I will never forget it, because going down this road is still one of the best decisions I have ever made.

I remember feeling so excited that day, as I could finally start spreading the word of my first book’s release (which came out at the start of June 2017; it was the first installment to a 6-book Fantasy/Horror/Romance series entitled the Schimmenwereld Serie/“Phantom World series”), and everything started to become real. However, to be honest, it was also quite anticlimactic, because obviously, not a soul had heard of me and those first few months I practically drowned in a sea of tweets and posts without anyone noticing me.

But none of that matters! I’ve come pretty far since then, even switched over to English a year ago so I could reach readers internationally, and it has all been the beginning of realizing my dreams. I still have many goals to achieve and dreams to realize, but I’m working hard, and… well, to be honest, are you ever finished realizing goals and dreams? Once you’ve achieved one, a new one will pop up. There’s no rest for the wicked! And crazed writers, obviously 😉

Anyway. Happy anniversary to me! 😀

• The New Series

In the last Writing Update, I told you that I had finished writing the first book of my brand-new Fantasy Romance series, and that I had sent the manuscript to my beta-readers for their opinion. I was rather nervous, remember?

Well, turned out I didn’t really need to be, because they loved it! I was so relieved. ♥️

I’ve already begun working on book 2 and am about halfway through. I expect to have it finished before the end of April, so it’s all going rather smoothly — and my brain’s already brimming with very detailed ideas for book 3!

Also, I have seen the covers for the first two books, as they’ve already been made, and WHOA. Guys, they’re so beautiful!!! I honestly can’t wait to share them with you! It won’t be long now, I’ll stop teasing you real soon, I swear!

Some big reveals and updates are coming in May, so stay tuned! I’ll share some covers, the blurb for book 1, and of course a release date 🙂

• Insomnia Saga updates are coming too!

Apart from covers for my new series, I have also seen the final three covers for the Insomnia Saga, and as I stated on Instagram, they look freakishly gorgeous. I’ll share those with you as well (in May, probably? Otherwise June at the latest)!

Also, the revisions for ORIGINS part two are in full swing, which should be finished at the end of this month. The release of the full edition and so the paperback on May 25 is finally drawing near 😀

Let’s wrap up this update! I’ve probably teased you guys way too much with promises while I am not showing a single thing, but I swear the wait is almost over! I’m super excited about all the projects I’m working on (as you can probably tell, lol). I actually have a hard time believing it’s only been 4 years since I became a published author — to me, it kind of feels like I’ve been doing this for almost a decade or something 😉 So strange!

Well, in that case, I’ll see you guys on my 10-year anniversary in six years, right~?

Thank you for reading this update, and please be safe and well everyone! ♥️

• ORIGINS (Insomnia Saga #3)

“Our world is changing.
It is already turning into a darker place. And darker still.”

The first step of the ritual has been completed.
Only two remain. And time is slipping.

It’s only been a day since Kay sacrificed his blood in order to save the world; only a day since Jodi rose to fight her greatest enemy once more; only a day since Aiden’s betrayal; only a day since Annabelle and Damian achieved their first step in the ritual of the Infinite Night.

• This is part one (of two) of ORIGINS. Part two will release on May 25th, 2021, in ebook edition
• The full edition of ORIGINS will also release on May 25th 2021, in both ebook and paperback edition

If you can’t wait and are already going to dive into this first half of the book, I hope you will enjoy the continuation of Jodi’s and Kay’s battle against the Nightprowlers, as they learn more about themselves and each other while meeting unexpected allies! I absolutely loved working on ORIGINS 😀

If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line here on my blog, on social media, or through email contact(at)lynnrobin.com; I’ll get back to you ASAP ❤️
